Trick or Treat

Sigh.

I published a previous post too quickly and forgot to include pics of the kids cleaning out their pumpkins.

Apparently I have a couple other things on my mind.
Jax was too young to do much last year but he was all in this year. He loved the cold, gooey, squishy pumpkin guts. And, surprisingly, he stayed really clean during it all.
The kids spent a long time sifting through stringy goop to sift out pumpkin seeds for roasting. Butter + salt or butter + cinnamon = YUMMY snack.
May I now present to you, Ariel, the Little Mermaid...
... a loud but not ferocious T-Rex...
... a Star Wars Storm Trooper
... and Darth Vader.
The boys got two years out of their costumes so that's a plus.

Jax wore the same costume both Grady and Micah wore at that age so that's a major win.

And Annalyse is just a hot mess of all things girly so that's worthy of a big internal eye roll.
After two bucket-fulls or candy we called it quits. Besides, the boys were itching from their costumes, Annalyse was fighting tears because someone stepped on her fin and ripped it, and Jax was ready to dig in and eat.
Once candy was sorted and kids were in bed, I took it upon myself to taste test the essentials (translation: anything Reese's) and to dump the unworthy candy (think Tootsie Rolls, Dum Dums, jawbreakers, caramel squares...).
Pumpkins and costumes and candy 2016: that's a wrap!
