Translations

I can't afford to tithe regularly.
Translation: I don't like to share with God what is his anyways.

I don't need to join my local church.
Translation: I like the flexibility of fellowship without the commitment.

I don't have time to serve at my church.
Translation: My life is more important to me than the lives of those around me.

I don't get anything out of my pastor's preaching.
Translation: I know what I want and need better than the Spirit's ministry through spoken Truth.

I don't need to be baptized to be saved, so I won't bother to do it.
Translation: I decide which of God's commands are applicable to me.

I don't support the content of most of what I watch on TV, but I need some relaxed entertainment.
Translation: It's okay to laugh at things that hurt the heart of God as long as I don't actually do those things.

I want the freedom to have a career and raise kids and serve in my church and maintain my home and love my husband.
Translation: I like a taste of everything without excelling at any one thing.

I want more kids but I can't afford them. I'd like to be more hospitable but my house is too small. I'd like to volunteer but I don't have time.
Translation: I let my fears make decisions for me.

Some of these statements are generalizations. Most of these statements are specific. All of these statements ring true in one form or another. What are you ignoring or hiding or avoiding because of inaccurate translations?
