Dump This + Dump That = Decent Invention

A friend recently made a post on her blog asking for "simple meals that don't require following a recipe." It's been interesting to see the various replies from people - I'm all about simple, and I'm all about using what's in my cupboard to come up with dinner. Paula Dean? Not so much. Martha Stewart? Hardly. But, my family is fed, my meals use a lot of variety, and I stick to a budget. (And, for the record, I am one of those people who think family dinner time is extremely important.)

Here's something I made the other night that I thought I'd share. It's one of those "dump this and then dump that and then viola - dinner!"

I've made this dish several times, but each time it's a little different because, like I said, it involves dumping this and that. I don't have specifics, but here goes

1. Saute onion, broccoili, and garlic with butter.

2. When the vegetables are soft, but not mushy, add a bag of previously-thawed shrimp.

3. After the shrimp have sauteed for a few minutes, add a can of diced tomatoes and sprinkle in some basil.

4. Add some cooked pasta (spaghetti, penne, bowtie... I've used them all!) and some grated parmesan cheese.

There you have it - a healthy meal in just minutes. Nothing tricky to it. And, if there are left-overs, this warms up great.

Now what about you: what "dump this and dump that" recipes do you have?
