April Showers

For anyone that joined the journey and started following my life via this blog, you'll remember Freddy the Frog from last summer.

(Drum roll please.)

It's April, temps are warm, and Freddy has returned! You cannot imagine the excited yells from my boys.
Poor Freddy was probably kicking himself for returning to his old hopping grounds on our deck. I can just imagine him saying, "I knew there was a reason I wasn't going to come back to this deck!"
Not too long after Freddy was back in the all-too-familiar cage, the skies darkened, the wind picked up, and the clouds let loose.

Saying it started to rain would be a huge understatement. It poured. Gushed, really. In total seriousness, Grady Lee looked at me and asked, "Is there going to be a big storm here like in Japan? I don't want the water to flood our house!"

Prime teaching moment! We recalled the story in the Bible where Jesus calmed the wind and waves. We sang "My God Is So Big" and "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands."

In a matter of minutes, both boys were asking to stand on the front porch to watch the storm roll through. And when it started to hail, they were really beside themselves. "Why is it snowing in a thunderstorm, Mom?"
When the hail stopped and the pounding rain lessened, the boys ran around the yard collecting hail balls.

Annalyse and Daddy were content to stay inside. I think the lucky girl enjoyed some bonding time on the couch while watching golf. (Well, the "lucky" part is debatable... I'm not sure if watching golf qualifies as lucky.)
Actually, I think I was the lucky one because I was outside laughing hysterically at my boys and their amazement with hail.
A series of several storms rolled through all evening. In between, the boys had fun watching for lightening and then counting the seconds until the thunder boomed.

Micah: "I counted to seven - the storm is 7 hours away!" Hours... minutes... miles... same thing in his world.
He's got the wind and the rain, in His hands.
He's got the wind and the rain, in His hands.
He's got the wind and the rain, in His hands.
He's got the whole world in his hands!
