A Day on the Lake

We live mere minutes from Lake Wylie. Actually, if we walk about a mile through our backyard woods we land on the banks of one of the lake's many inlets. Soooo basically we have lakefront property.
This fun, outdoor gem has provided countless walks, picnics, animal encounters, and boating adventures for our crew. If we can't have a home on the lake, we sure do like living close to the lake!
When my parents were in town recently we spent several hours boating around the lake, exploring inlets, enjoying the sights, and braving the (freezing) cold water to swim. It was a great way to spend a day.
Grady: Give him a boat to captain, some sun and a breeze, and he is in his element.

Grady Lee: The first to follow suit and jump in because nothing is ever too cold to try.

Micah: Discovering a rope swing into the lake = BEST DAY EVER.
Annalyse: Toes in the water is great, but plenty of snacks to enjoy while watching others swim is perfect.

Jaxton: If his older brothers can do it he will certainly try too!
Grandma: Month after month of snow and cold temps in Michigan meant that swimming in North Carolina was a must.

Grandpa: Swimming? Not so much. Manning the anchor? Someone's got to do it.
Me: No way was I about to get into freezing brownish green lake water just for the sake of saying I did it. Besides, someone needed to stay dry and take pics. And keep Grandpa company.
Four hours flies by when you're having fun, and before we knew it it was time to dock the boat and call it a day.
Thankfully Grandpa treated us to a Mexican dinner out so there was no worry on cooking after a full day outside. And, the fresh air must've built appetites because we ate our weight in chips and salsa, for sure!
Sun, wind, and water sure makes for a tiring day!
