The Simple Things

1. Air conditioning. Ice cubes. Ceiling fans. Popsicles. Squirt guns. Swimming pools. Cold water. Ice cream. Flowy dresses. Sleeveless shirts. Take out food. And anything else that possibly aided my plight for comfort in this heat!
2. Friends who know that running after Jesus offers a whole lot more than running after self. I am encouraged and motivated by friends who have demonstrated tunnel-vision resolve to obey God's call despite what circumstances say, what feelings say, what friends say, and what family members say.
3. A mom who gave her time, sacrificed her money, and shared her energy to love my kids and encourage me by visiting for a week. Seven days went entirely too fast and I'm hanging on to the mental images I have of times of laughter and silliness.
What about you - what Simple Things did you appreciate this week?

  1. We enjoyed a day at Lake Michigan! It has been years since we just dropped everything and headed to the beach as a family. It is very hard to do that, now that the kids are all older. We spent the entire day playing in the water, flying a kite, playing catch and of course people watching. Oh yeah and the boys dug a huge hole and that meant that Michael had to be buried. I stood in awe as I looked out on that most beautiful lake and had to thank the Lord for his creation! The never ending view of water and the sun dancing on the waves takes your breath away. Many memories were made, despite the fact that we all got very sun burned. Our simple thing was laughter at the beach. Great week!
