Long Drive - Short Visit - Full Hearts

Last November my parents came during the week of Thanksgiving and we crammed in as much fun as possible - including celebrating three birthdays and an early Christmas!

This winter, life took some twists and turns no one anticipated and both of my parents said goodbye and buried a parent. In the same week. The heartache and the fatigue - so weighty and so consuming.

My parents planned to visit in early April to enjoy some warmer weather (because Michigan STILL had snow) and to enjoy the grand kids, but once again life threw a curve ball: my mom's back gave her trouble and their visit was delayed.

Finally, in mid-May we were able to align our schedules, everyone was healthy, and they drove down for a visit. Nothing special planned for the week - just time to be together. And, because this seems to always be the case, it rained most of the time they were here so we had to get creative with some indoor fun.

We spent an afternoon at Sea Life Aquarium...
... another day we rode the train Uptown to explore Imagine On and get pizza for lunch...
... and spent lots of time playing board games, card games, basketball and football, and taking bike rides around the neighborhood.
Happy Mother's and Grandmother's Day! And Happy (early) Father's and Grandfather's Day!
I'm so thankful for parent's who love genuinely and give generously. They serve and encourage. They help and pray. And they do it faithfully and with great joy.
